Short period seismometer

This short period seismometer is protected by a sheath installed on the elevator for its voyage to the seafloor. To the right of short period is the data logger enclosed in its yellow hard hat. Note the red light at the end of the bar to the left of the instrument. This light when activated on the seafloor indicate that the instrument has been inserted nearly prefectly horizontally inside the chosen drill hole.
